#15 Project X at Great Lakes Brewery

Established in 1987, Great Lakes Brewery is Toronto’s oldest craft brewery. It’s also great to see a company so involved in the community. The brewery hosts Project X each month, an event geared toward beer lovers.

Great Lakes Brewery, located at 30 Queen Elizabeth Boulevard in Etobicoke (just west of Royal York), is a Canadian legend in the beer industry. Brewing their award winning beers using an historic fire-brewed copper kettle, Great Lakes Brewery uses ingredients obtained mostly from local producers. This ensures freshness and quality. Their lineup of award-winning beers include Crazy Canuck Pale Ale, Golden Horseshoe Premium Lager, Red Leaf Smooth Red Lager, Devil’s Pale Ale, Green Tea Ale, Orange Peel Ale, Pumpkin Ale, and Winter Ale. All locally made and enjoyed.

Each month the Great Lakes Brewery hosts an event called Project X where you can meet the team at Great Lakes, mingle with fellow beer lovers, and try exciting new beers. The brewery also makes available limited edition beers brewed specifically for Project X. Great tasting food is also provided at the event and if there’s a Toronto sports team playing, the game will be broadcast for your pleasure. Depending on the day, Project X is held indoors or in the front courtyard. To attend, you must become a member of Project X ($10 at the door, and includes a t-shirt). Event cost is also $10 to cover beer and food.

It takes a great brewery to compete with the big boys and Great Lakes Brewery is up to the task. With a lineup of great beers and their monthly Project X event, they are here to stay.
