Etobicoke Lakeshore Culture Days


September 30, 2018

The Etobicoke Lakeshore Culture Days Festival is co-produced by Lakeshore Arts and Humber College with supporting partners: City of Toronto’s Assembly Hall, Mimico by the Lake BIA and Lakeshore Village BIA.

The weekend features free, hands-on, interactive activities that give participants a “behind-the-scenes” look into the arts and cultural base of the local community.

RELISH The Foodie Event

RELISH The Foodie Event is a two-day (September 29 and 30, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily), food-centric event taking place in the parking lot at Cloverdale Mall. This free to attend event centered around food truck-hopping will tempt one’s taste buds, fill one’s belly and no doubt, put all foodies into a legit food coma.
Participating food trucks include: Meltdown Cheesery, FeasTO, Arepa Republic, The Kathi Roll Express, Apa’s Kitchen, Jerk Brothers, Buster’s Sea Cove, Crêpe Street Los Vietnamita and Funnel Cake Dream. In the Tastemakers Market, foodies will find TK Preserves and Nourished Roots Market Garden.
Also on the event menu: Foodies will delight in cooking presentations by celebrity chefs Anna Olson (Saturday, September 29 at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.) and Massimo Capra (Sunday, September 30 at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.), meet our emcee Mairlyn Smith, chef, author and television personality, drool over the delish art as part of the Gourmet Gallery art crawl and enjoy the sweet and savoury sounds of DJ Josephine Cruz aka JAYEMKAYEM. For the littlest foodies: Make yummy food faces at the Food, Baby station sponsored by Metro.

At Applewood Achievers Toastmasters Club, we can help you improve your speaking and leadership skills in a friendly and supportive environment. The Toastmasters program helps you develop at your own pace, through a structured program of speeches and leadership tasks.

We are open to anyone wishing to improve their public speaking skills, from the novice who wants to overcome their fear to the pro who needs to sharpen their delivery. Our programs cover many different areas of speaking, communication, and leadership; including:

Beginners wanting to overcome their nervousness about public speaking.
Seasoned speakers wanting to improve their existing public speaking skills.
Anyone wanting to gain confidence and experience in positions of leadership.

In Toastmasters, you learn by practicing how to prepare and give a speech, and you will receive helpful, friendly evaluations that help you improve with each talk. You can also practice impromptu, or "off the cuff"​, speaking for those situations when you can't prepare ahead of time.

Speaking in a friendly club environment, with helpful feedback, will help you become more comfortable speaking in front of groups. Toastmasters can also help you develop leadership skills with opportunities to take on specific responsibilities available at every meeting.
