On any particular day or night you’ll find groups of 20-somethings enjoying their favourite pints, families enjoying good old-fashioned pub food, and business folk escaping office politics. It’s pretty much come-as-you-are with zero attitude from the hostess, manager, and wait staff. St James’s Gate is pretty much an institution here in Etobicoke for good reason. It isn’t changing its colours to attract a different crowd or to cater to “flavour of the month” restaurant trends. It doesn’t need to as it’s packed most days and nights.
When you’ve been around as long as St. James’s Gate it most likely due to several factors. The first being good food from your required standard fare such as the crispy fish & chips, ribs, and juicy burgers to the family favourite Sunday brunch. They have daily meal deals as well so be sure to ask your server. You need to be entertained as well so whether it’s the Leafs or Raptors, the yearly Super Bowl party, or the Live Band there is something for everyone. And what is a pub if it doesn’t have several beers on tap including our personal favourite, Guinness.
When it comes to pubs the local option is usually best and in the case of St. James’s Gate Irish Alehouse and Restaurant this certainly rings true.
