It’s always a great thing when a community gets together to create an event, not to profit or for individual gain, but for the benefit of all who live in that community. The annual Mimico Tulip Festival in Etobicoke is the perfect example of this type of event. And boy do the kids, young and old, love it.
Royal York Road will come into bloom Tuesday May 29th, 2018 as this day will mark the 16th Annual Mimico Tulip Festival. Each spring the Mimico Village BIA and local community organizations come together and volunteer their time to put on the event. This event is centered around the unveiling of twenty-three 4-foot tall tulips which are painted annually by various community groups and school children in the area. Each more colourful than the next. The event also includes music, entertainment, food, and activities for all to enjoy during this annual tradition.
The Mimico Tulip Festival is a great community event that provides a way to get out and meet the neighbours. It also offers plenty of fun and entertainment for the young ones such as jumping castles, rock climbing, face painting, balloons, free refreshments, carnival games and prizes. Police officers and firefighters also meet with families in the community to help with children’s safety information.
The Mimico Village BIA does a lot of good work in the area and the Mimico Tulip Festival in Etobicoke is one of the events that is at the top of the list.
