Furniture Bank

Highlighting the good work of organizations located here in Etobicoke is something we like to do whenever we can. One such organization that is making a huge impact on the lives of many is Furniture Bank.

Furniture Bank is a registered charity and not-for-profit organization that provides “gently used household furnishings to individuals and families in need, at little or no cost”. The items come from the general public who donate furniture and any other household items such as kitchen wares, electronics, and basically anything else you would find in a home. Furniture Bank works directly with social service partners in order to distribute the furniture to those in need which include people transitioning out of homelessness, women and children getting out of abusive situations, and refugees. If you would like to receive furniture from Furniture Bank please contact one of the partner agencies listed  on the website below.

So how does one donate furniture? It’s simple. If the item is in good condition you can drop it off at the warehouse.Furniture If you have many items please call to book an appointment. You can also arrange to have Furniture Bank come to your home to pick up the items at a cost starting at $100. This is a great service if for instance you are selling a family home and are wondering what to do with the furniture. Please note that there are items that they cannot accept like major appliances and tube televisions (please check the website). If requested, donors can get also get a tax receipt.

Furniture Bank has been in the news quite a bit both for the good work that they do (for the Syrian refugees as an example) as well as for the bad that has happened to them (truck items being stolen). Let’s help out this great organization in Etobicoke by donating our furniture, money, and time.
