With competing entertainment options it’s harder for more traditional organization and artforms to gain a foothold with the younger set. The Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra repeatedly puts on great shows on the backs of volunteers and some of the most talented musicians in the GTA.
The Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra (EPO) has been around since 1960 and is a registered charitable organization whose musicians come from all walks of like. Comprised of professionals and amateurs, young and old, the musicians share one common love and that is the love of music. Each season is made up of five subscription concerts in addition to performances at special events and churches throughout the city. Not only that, each concert usually feature a guest solo artist that music lovers will recognize. Tickets and subscriptions can be purchased directly from the orchestra website at http://eporchestra.ca/tickets.php. The shows are fantastic and take place Friday nights throughout the season. One will certainly appreciate the variety of the shows. They also make great gifts for music lovers in your family.
On top of great performances the Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra provides scholarships for youth currently in secondary school or college/university that exhibit extraordinary talent in musical ability. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for corporations as well as the need for musicians and volunteers. Running an orchestra is no easy feat but the hard work comes through in the performances.
Etobicoke is a breeding ground for many artists and an important contributor to the art season without a doubt is the Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra.
