La Veranda Osteria, located at 946 Royal York Road at Bloor, is in the heart of the Kingsway neighbourhood. It is tucked away so perfectly that you might just walk by without noticing it in winter months. I doubt that the same would happen during the summer as that is when La Veranda’s patio opens up and you can see and hear people enjoying their hearty meals. Inside, the warm tones and friendly vibes lends itself to a relaxed dining experience. It can get noisy, but that is part of its charm. La Veranda is perfect for date night, dinner with friends, or a night out with the family.
No restaurant can get by on paint colours alone so you’ll be glad to know that La Veranda serves up some amazing Italian dishes that are tasty and filling. You’ll need some time as the menu is quite thick. It’s a nice little read however as along with menu items they give you a little history of where the dishes came from. The grilled calamari are light and plentiful for an appetizer. I could swear that the “pesce del mare” should be a main but it’s listed as an appetizer at La Veranda Osteria. Salads are filling and should be shared. Daily specials are the norm with Oso Buco and the giant ravioli shining through. And who could forget the oven baked flat pizza. Delicious. All this with attentive service and a smile.
