If there’s one thing that signals in the start of Summer it’s the many farmers markets that dot the Etobicoke landscape beginning in May and June. The idea of “farm to plate” in as few steps as possible is an appealing one. Personally, I like to speak to the actual growers or farmers and find out how the crops are doing, when the items were picked, and other general chit-chat.
Etobicoke is home to many farmers markets with a major market taking place almost every day of the week. With fresh fruit, vegetables, meats, and baked items being offered there’s a reason why farmers markets have surged in popularity the last few years. The offerings also change week to week as different items come and “grow” with the Summer season.
