Without a doubt one of the most exciting events taking place during the Winter Olympics is short track speed skating. One of the events that rivals this grand stage of competition is the ISU World Cup Short Track competition which is taking place in Toronto this year. Specifically it is taking place right here in Etobicoke!
World Cup Short Track Toronto is taking place November 6th, 7th, and 8th 2015 at the Mastercard Centre located at 400 Kipling Avenue in Etobicoke. The World Cup of Short Track Speed Skating has taken place all over the world with several events held in Canada. However, this is the first time it will be held in Toronto! This is also no small event! There will be 155 skaters from 25 countries competing here. We are very lucky to have these world class athletes right here in our own backyard. “Many 2014 Winter Olympic medalists will compete, including Canada’s own Charles Hamelin, Valerie Maltais and Charle Cournoyer. Ontario athletes will be well represented on Canada’s team, led by William Preudhomme (Toronto) and Patrick Duffy (Oakville).”
As mentioned short track speed skating is one of the most exciting Winter sports you can watch. These races take place on a short oval track at speeds you wouldn’t believe but easy to follow due to the smaller track. Endurance, quick-thinking, strategy, it all comes into play during each race and contact, while not planned, does happen. Tickets start at only $15 for adults with costs to children under 10 at significant savings. Get your tickets online now at TicketPro.
As mentioned this is the first time the ISU World Cup Short Track has taken place in Toronto. Let’s make sure it comes back by filling the stands November 6th, 7th, and 8th at the Mastercard Centre right here in Etobicoke!

Wow, I’m only seeing this now, two years later. And right in my own backyard! I actually have a Web site dedicated to events like this that were held in Toronto, particularly beginning in 2015. I should add this one to my site. http://toronto2015.wendellsweb.com
