With most of the neighbourhoods in Etobicoke having typically bigger lot sizes on average in the City of Toronto we are also lucky to have one of the better tree canopies in the GTA. That being said we love our trees and that’s why we love programs such as TD Tree Days.
TD Tree Days is TD’s “flagship urban greening program”. By working together with community partners, customers, and their own employees through the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, TD has put together a successful program that has been responsible for planting over 96,000 trees since 2017. The Etobicoke location this year is located at the Sherway Trail. Spots for the day tend to fill up well in advance so be sure to register early.
In addition to beautifying neighbourhoods trees serve a very important function in a multitude of ways. Tree Canada reports that “trees offer several environmental, economic, and social benefits including sequestering of gaseous air pollutants and particulates, energy conservation through cooling and shade, storm-water attenuation, noise buffering, provision of wildlife habitat, increased property value, and improved aesthetics and psychological well being. It’s hard to disagree with any of those points!
So visit the website below and be sure to register for the next TD Tree Days event or donate to your favourite environmental charity today!
