It is no wonder that the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence is the official practice facility of the Toronto Maple Leafs. It’s a state of the art hockey arena and it’s located right here in Etobicoke.
The MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence opened in 2009 to much fanfare. Gone was the older but much-loved Lakeshore Lions Arena but in its place would be the envy of all other practice arenas. The facility is over 272,000 square feet and contains 4 NHL sized rinks with one of the rinks being able to be converted into an Olympic sized ice surface. There are 6 dressing rooms for each rink and the Maple Leafs practice facility also contains a workout room, whirlpools and hot tubs.
The arena just isn’t for the pros though. There are public skate options every Friday running from September to April. You can visit the site schedule below. If you have a group of friends you can also rent the rinks out for a fee. Call the arena for details.
The MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence in Etobicoke is an example of the commitment Toronto has in its hockey program. Another indoor facility for public skating doesn’t hurt either.

Found this info here and showed up for public skating today with the whole family and apparently the schedule changes week to week. The website should be updated.
Sorry to hear that Susan. We do indicate that the skate times should be verified with the arena but we’ll try and make it clearer in the write-up.
Is there public skating on Saturday, January 17? Do adults need helmets?
Is there free skate family day? If so what time?
Hi Leigh.. Unfortunately it does not look like they are doing a public skate on Family Day this year.
There is a family day skate in 2016 however. Monday February 15th from 9:15am – 4:15pm
Interested in a contract rental this fall – looking for 1.5 hrs on weeknight.
thanks.
Hi Adam
Please contact the Mastercard Centre directly. I’m sure they can accommodate your request.
Richard
Do they rent skates there as well??
We don’t believe they do. Please call the arena for updated information.
Are any of the Maple Leafs’ practices viewable by the public?
