Sometimes it’s the little things that really make a meal shine. The people behind the great Italian restaurant Pazzia Osteria take this sentiment to heart and the result is a satisfying dining experience.
Pazzia Osteria, located at 848 The Queensway, is an Italian restaurant that concentrates on excellent service and great tasting food with natural ingredients. Owner brothers Franco, who works the front, and Chef Vittorio, who runs the kitchen, know their roles and perform them flawlessly like any professional duo. It’s no secret that the restaurant business is tough but having been at this location since 1997 Franco and Vittorio obviously know the keys to running a successful establishment. Treat others as you want to be treated while serving a hearty meal.
Pazzia Osteria Restaurant prides itself on preparing all food in-house and it shows. Having grown up in a household where all meals were cooked at home I can usually discern whether restaurant meals are prepared on premises or made elsewhere and then frozen. The dishes here are fresh and very satisfying. Chef Vittorio also pays attentions to seasonal dishes so, for example, when wild mushrooms are at their tasty “peak” then you can expect the specials to reflect that. The special today was a Portobello Parmigiana which is the perfect option for a vegetarian, or non-vegetarian, who wants the taste of veal parmigiana. The Grilled Calamari is perfect to share with your dining companions. The Penne a La Vodka with its heaping pile of pancetta is a classic favourite while the Veal and Scallops Limone is a great Italian version of a surf and turf. End it with an espresso with homemade biscotti and your dinner is complete. If there’s one piece of advice we can give before you eat at Pazzia Osteria is that if you plan on ordering an appetizer and a main you better bring your appetite.
The rustic space is very cozy and it’s recommended that you make reservations for lunch or dinner as it could get quite busy at Pazzia. They are closed Sundays but can accommodate private functions such as birthdays and baptisms for as many as fifty guests. The best way to experience a Pazzia Osteria meal is to take your time but if you’re in a hurry or need takeout you can call ahead and Franco will ensure your meals are packed up and ready to go when you arrive.
Another highlight for me is the service received at Pazzia Osteria. On this particular day I brought my wife and newborn baby. Franco went out of his way to ensure that we were comfortable and offered up anything and everything to our little girl including hot water, a spot to change her, and so on. I also noticed that Franco had long conversations with everyone who came in. This indicates to us that there are many regulars who frequent Pazzia so there’s obviously a reason as to why they keep returning. It’s the great food and friendly banter that comes along with it.
While it would be easy for Franco and Chef Vittorio to rest on their past successes they continue to work hard on ensuring that everyone who comes in to Pazzia Osteria Restaurant is treated to a very satisfying meal, just like you would with family.
